Dear RV, I love crypto and have been involved since the early days but I have a question that bugs me. As a hivemind, we are so focused on today's developments but the errors of tomorrow could come back to haunt us and the question is: if one can accidentally "lose one's BTC/Crypto on a boating trip" and then hand down (through informal inheritance) your coins to your family/inheritors Ad Infinium creating a permanent wealth class/rent-seeking class -- that's super dangerous for socie…

Capital Gains and Labor Income should NOT be the same due to different expected returns
This notion that wages and capital gains should be taxed at the same rate is erroneous.  The expected value of wage is 100% of earned income.  The probabilities of your employer not paying you or demanding money from you is zero.  (Expected value of labor = 100% X wage + 0% X no wage + 0% X pay employer).  The expected value on the return from capital gains is NOT equal to the actual gains returned.  There is some probability that the investor will break even and some probability that investor …

    Writing off RV subscription
Can anyone give me an idea how to write off my RV Pro subscription? I am a US based investor, but I do not have an "investment business". I am hoping to figure out a way to write off my RV Pro membership. My accountant doesn't seem to think I can do that after the changes in the law in 2018. I have another business, but it is in the  "arts & crafts" category :) and totally not related to investments. Any ideas?

Evolution of TAXES in the US per income bracket
American's unlike Italians, really do pay their taxes. But me being non American have no idea how the US taxmachine works except that it's a big complicated topic and nobody in Murica seems happy about it. While I am reading this I think this data is already worth sharing.   https://www.ntu.org/library/doclib/2020/12/2018-who-pays-1-.pdf You got to look at this from bottom to top.
