Well, it's probably a better question on why India is going more parabolic now then last year. Yes the two country is"next door" so to speak, but when that door is the Himalayas it's kind of a different story
I see no evidence that there are significant reason to believe massively to the contrary of how China is doing now deviates from their claims, yes you shouldn't believe in their numbers ( though what bugs me is people assuming the opposite must be true and other government's figure are some sort of laws of physics accurate) . They just had there golden holidays week and traffic was off the charts ( if anything the closure of borders helps their local tourism as they were always a major net tourist exporting country )
The lockdown being hard enough and their quarantine of inbound traffic being more serious probably helps.
Western lockdowns aren’t lockdowns, they are heavy restrictions. The stories out of China early on were that infected areas were actually locked down- people were forbidden from leaving their homes and the police/military were tasked with dropping off food. Because reporting is lazy we use the term ‘lockdown‘ to mean anything from ‘can’t leave your home under penalty of arrest‘ to ’can’t go to bars/restaurants’. We also stupidly use it to refer to moronic situations like Paris declaring that it will lock down in 2-3 days so everyone goes out and crams into every bar/shopping center/grocery store and actively increased the spread.
I saw the videos, it was really brutal in some cases what they did in China.
India is our way of "trading" with China, from what I understand, so the flow of disease as well as India being the #2 highest diabetes rates behind the U.S. makes sense. Early on, most forgot, covid impacted renal patients much more than the rest. I think the Healthcare failure/Vax + oxygen failure will bring to light the massive comorbidity of covid related deaths and renal diseases/diabetes. Imho
