When BTC starts trading in the futures market and the manipulators enter the fray, is there a concern that the price of BTC falls under control of bad actors

BTC is already on the CME futures market as /BTC and CBOE as /XBT.  You'll need the right type of account, margin approval, futures approval, and you might even need to specifically get approval to trade bitcoin futures.  That being said Bitcoin is already highly manipulated by bitcoin whales but despite this it's also much much more simple than traditional equities.

I don't recommend trading futures on a traditional platform due to significant lack of liquidity and high margin requirements.  Instead there is a completely separate and different futures market on Binance and BitMex (there may be more) that is far more liquid and has more favorable terms.
