THIS POST CONTAINED SEVERAL ERRORS. I WAS GOING TO DELETE IT BUT IN THE SPIRIT OF TRANSPARENCY I KEEP IT POINTING OUT THE ERRORS.
I recently discovered BlockFi, and was very interested at the gains that it was offering.
But interestingly I discovered that the percentage of gain did not double when I doubled the amount of Bitcoin I would have invested. This led me to a short investigation, which led me to this table. On the row is the number of years you would hold an investment with them, on the columns your starting number of bitcoin.
Generally the numbers are internally consistent. Meaning if you put x btc, and keep them for 1 year. And then get the gains and add them to your investment the result is the same as holding it for 2 years.
But also notice how gain drop as you put more money. 1 bitcoin will give you 0.06 btc in 1 year. 10 bitcoin will give you 0.38 Btc in the same amount of time instead of 0.6. And 100 will give you 3.08 instead of 6.
(IN THE COMMENTS @Johan Lindstrom EXPLAINS HOW THE RATE IS 6% FOR 2.5 BTC OR LESS AND 3 % AFTER)
The I wanted to find out what gain I would get by holding the money on blockfi for several years. Expressed in percentage, and got this table (PLEASE IGNORE, THE ACTUAL TABLE IS AFTER):
Notice how for 1 Bitcoin the gain is fixed at 6%, very... (More)
