NFTs... Was going to save this for the upcoming event but it's questionable if I can attend the whole thing...

So I'm still in observation mode on NFTs. A friend in the IT space linked me a series of tweets (link at bottom) stating that some NFTs being sold contain in fact nothing more than a URL that links to a JSON file that links to the work. Thus, the token itself is not the work and the work can be lost if hosting stops for whatever reason...

So on that note, keeping in mind my relative blockchain inexperience... is there a particular technical limitation that would cause the token to be structured like this or is this an attempt by a website to ensconce itself early as a sort of copyright registrar? How do twitter/the NBA implement? Do they contain a picture/the video? Does anyone have a link to one of those two... the NFT itself? I can't actually find a link to view one... the site in question has a hash which I presume is to view the token but I don't know how to use it.

Looking forward to the Crypto Gathering.
