I also keep cash and own (pay for) an apartment. I have another broker account with less than 5k just for the fun of it but I don't won't to update this "about me" all the time.
There you have it full transparency.
I understand this might look like Mike Greens passive Horror portfolio. I also realise that if I'd like to (partially) retire B4 67 this allocation might not do. I don't have time to "trade" so this is the best I came up with. Feel free to send feedback.

A fun "what if" analysis based on listening + acting on the words of media's favourite 🐻's:
Micheal Cambalest 2019
I find it good stuff to reflect on. Because the doom stories are mostly very convincing and loss aversion is very real, especially the older one gets (less time to make up the gains).
This analysis is just an exercise and does not reflect reality (except four Nouriel Roubini who really is a Perma Bear) since if you would have invested in the funds of some of these guys you probably would have done better than this graph lets you believe. Also, these guys change their minds & this isn't reflected in the graph.
From part 2: revisited to include the covid crash.
Both these companies basically rent out datacentres. Equinix is i believe #1 and Digital Reality is #2 with about half the EV.
I was wondering why Equinix would be focussed on expanding in Europe VS expanding in Asia (see second fig). Anyone has an idea why? Naively I am thinking Asia is some years ahead in tech but definitely has far more people and connected devices compared to Europe....
Expansion focussed in EMEA, smaller expansion in Asia and also far fewer datacenters.. SAD
I also wonder how involved these companies are if at all in the crypto and blockchain world?
Quick comparison:
these Gross margins 👀
Both have been big winners in the digital / cloud age:
Revenue was 182,527 million in 2020, a 12% growth compared to last year. So, I am not worried they don't have good product-market fit. They dominate the space they are in but I am worried about them becoming super dull.
Yesterday it just hit me in the face as to how different Google is from Amazon. They reported on the same day and while both are admired I got to say it looks like the most innovative company is by far Amazon. And sure enough, if you would consider # of new patents as a proof, Amazon ranks 6 places higher than google (11vs17). In last night’s earnings, we saw Amazon share 6 pages of updates on al the different service launches and updates. 60+ bullet points in total. In comparison, the google Q4 looked super meek, just numbers.
On the same day, I saw that google ended Stadia (anyone into gaming must have noticed how they did their best to hype this). So I got a hunch, like wow, it has been a long time that Google launched a new product that is exciting & actually works. I am starting to think DeepMind is cool but it could very well turn into the IBM Watson 🤷♂️.
Google had this moonshot stuff now called "other bets". While revenue has been good, it hasn’t been rocket fuel either.
Add 657m in revenue for FY 2020 so all together this "other stuff" gives google 3.6Billion of extra revenue over 8 years, It’s not bad, but it’s far from very sexy in my opinion.
When I started to think about the state of innovation at google I thought it was a bit sad google hasn’t been able to create the Google Maffia to rival the PayPal mafia🤷♂️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️
Failed or discontinued from the top of my head:
Google + (failed social media)
Google Glass (failed)
Stadia (failed)
Mobile phones (nexus, Motorola) (discontinued)
Chromebooks
google Portfolio's (now google finance, but sucks)
Hangouts (how did zoom n Teams take over from them in less than 12 months?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️)
Does anyone use google play for music?
Discontinued: "Don't be Evil" 😂🤷♂️
Actually there is a dedicated website for all the failed/ discontinued Google products:
The website is quite large and again, amazon has some big screwups but they also have multiple big hits too. Google seems to have done nothing worthwhile, apart from DeepMind, maybe.
I'm starting to think google's other bets is a mess. Good thing for the shareholders (and the passive investors) they got youtube and search that keep growing. And perhaps it is a very good thing they discontinue things that aren't working. However, I start to think they might not be able to build something good themselves (Android, Youtube & Waze are all acquisitions).
I know from “How I use RealVision" a lot of people here work in Tech. Any thoughts on this stuff?
What is going wrong at google?
I even wonder, is google worth joining if you want more than a Fat salary and a pampered office life?
@Milton The Curator please fix the ability to add more topics. (For example I wanted to label this as sentiment, data, reddit,WSB => impossible to do 😑😔
